I paint objects — the kind women collect without quite knowing why, and know exactly why when they see them on a wall. Perfume bottles. Breakfast trays set for one. Shoes that cost too much and were worth it. The jewellery worn to feel watched and the jewellery worn to feel armoured.
My practice is daily: forty-five minutes, one object, oil on small canvas. Accumulated over weeks and months, the works become an argument about what we choose to look at and what that choice means.
